In the fall of 2023, North Grenville District High School (NGDHS) students took a significant step towards integrating Real-World Learning (RWL) into their education with the launch of the NG Knights Media Marketing Team.

Nationview Public School is proud to announce the success and ongoing impact of its Real-World Learning initiative, the Nationview Growing Project.

The Queen Elizabeth Public School (QES) has been awarded $15,000 through Indigo’s Literacy Fund Grant, which aims to enhance reading resources and advance literacy at the school.

What started as a visit to Saunders Country Critters Zoo and Sanctuary turned into a Real-World Learning project that resulted in students enhancing the site for visitors and leaving a lasting mark on the country attraction.

Grade 6 students from Lyn Public School have partnered with Brockville’s Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in a Real-World Learning project that will bring a fun, engaging scavenger hunt to the conservation property.

The Grade 4/5 class from Chesterville Public School (CPS) gathered on Tuesday to launch their collaborative garden project with the food bank at the United Church and their community garden. This initiative, which began with a simple food drive, has blossomed into a multi-faceted effort to enhance the social and emotional well-being of the local community.

Grade 12 Perth & District Collegiate Institute (PDCI) student Clara Misener is the proud recipient of a $70,000 scholarship towards her university education, part of the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership program.

Grade 3/4 French Immersion students at Caldwell Street Public School wrapped up their Real-World Learning project this month, creating French vocabulary boxes to assist visually impaired students in the Upper Canada District School Board.

Grade 6 classes at Kemptville Public School (KPS) have partnered with the Giving Garden to bring Real-World Learning and Indigenous Education opportunities to the students and the wider community.

Char-Lan District High School is celebrating a remarkable achievement by one of its own. Tracey Moffatt, a dedicated and inspiring Physics and Math teacher, has been named one of the five 2024 recipients of the prestigious Baillie Award for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching by Queen's University. The award, established by Chancellor Emeritus A. Charles Baillie, recognizes high school educators who have made a decisive and formative impact on their students, guiding them towards higher education and academic excellence.

Grade 7 students from Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) in partnership with the Aquatarium have developed three “Curiosity Carts” that will be used by the local aquarium and discovery centre.

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) celebrated its outstanding employees on Monday, June 10 during the annual Board Celebration Evening at North Grenville District High School. Thirty-six UCDSB individuals were recognized with one of four UCDSB awards – Service Excellence Award, Ontario Principals’ Council Award of Character, Trustee Innovation Award and Director’s Red Apple Award.

Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) is encouraging students to express themselves through dance with its real-world learning (RWL) project, an inclusive after-school for credit dance program that has been thriving since its inception last year. Designed for students of all grades, levels, and talents, this initiative underscores the importance of dance as an art form within school communities and highlights VCI’s commitment to fostering creativity and community spirit.

Starting Kindergarten marks an exciting chapter for families. In this pivotal stage, children learn the fundamentals of math and literacy but also develop independence, problem-solving skills, and the ability to think critically about their surroundings.
