Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting 

Important information regarding the "ESL/ELD" boxes on progress reports and provincial report cards:

  • Check the box ONLY if you have modified the curriculum for that specific subject/strand and documented it formally. 

  • Do not check the box if you have accommodated with instructional, environmental, and assessment strategies. 

  • Accommodations always come before modifications. Modification of some or all of the course expectations, especially for students in the early stages of learning English (STEP 1-2) need to be clearly indicated on the Record of Modifications - Supporting English Language Learners document.  Use this document in place of an IEP. Do not use an IEP for English Language Learners.
