The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation announced earlier today that it will continue with one-day rotating strikes at selected school boards across the province on Wednesday, December 11. This is will not impact the Upper Canada District School Board.

The 2018-2019 Director’s Annual Report, was presented to the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. The report – an annual requirement of the Ministry of Education - details how our system is delivering educational programs in school settings that emphasizes a focus on student achievement, wellbeing and a graduate rate target of 90% by June 2020.

Upper Canada District School Board Chair John McAllister was acclaimed to the role for another year on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at the Board of Trustee’s annual organizational meeting. Trustee William MacPherson was acclaimed as Vice-Chair for a second consecutive year.

More specifically, several Upper Canada District School Board schools have been named as exceeding the Ontario threshold for lead in drinking water. We understand the importance of maintaining healthy environments for our students and staff and are writing to assure you that the drinking water in our schools is safe.

On November 4, the Ministry of Education’s new policy that restricts the use of personal mobile devices during instructional time will go into effect. The Ministry defines a personal mobile device to be a personal electronic device that can be used to communicate or to access the Internet, such as a cellphone or a tablet.
