February 26, 2019 (Williamstown, ON) - The Williamstown Public School (WPS) Skate-a-thon, held on Friday, February 22, raised nearly $5,000. The funds will be used to buy eight new computers.

The event generated about $4,000 through pledges from the school’s 370 students, and another $1,000 was donated by the Casselman branch of the Royal Bank of Canada.

“We’re extremely pleased with the results,” said Principal Lianne Chaput. “We are so fortunate to have a community that comes together to support our school initiatives.”

“It was also nice to give our students a day to enjoy some fun physical activity,” she added.

Students from WPS visited the arena in class groups over the course of the day, skating with their peers and family members.

The event was organized by school staff and the WPS School Council. The Optimist Club of Lancaster donated ice time for the event.
