Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting
Important information regarding the "ESL/ELD" boxes on progress reports and provincial report cards:

Check the box ONLY if you have modified the curriculum for that specific subject/strand and documented it formally.

Do not check the box if you have accommodated with instructional, environmental, and assessment strategies.

Accommodations always come before modifications. Modification of some or all of the course
expectations, especially for students in the early stages of learning English
(STEP 1-2) need to be clearly indicated on the Record of Modifications - Supporting English Language Learners document. Use this document
in place of an IEP. Do not use an IEP for English Language Learners.
